Matthias & Martha (Falter) Wurm

Matthias Nathan Wurm, son of John Christian and Johanna (Lehman) Wurm, was born 19 June 1850 in Venice Township, Seneca County, Ohio and died 2 July 1922 in Seneca County.  He married Martha Christine Falter 16 Jan 1882 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Seneca County, Ohio.  She was born 22 Feb 1861 in Seneca County, Ohio to John Baptiste and Margaret (Steinmetz) Falter and died 13 May 1950 in Seneca County, Ohio.

"Mrs. Martha Christine (Falter) Wurm, 89, widow of Mathias Wurm, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 1950, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Faeth, New Washington, where she had been cared for during an illness of 10 years.  Her death is attributed to complications associated with age.

Mrs. Wurm was born Feb. 22, 1861 at St. Stephen, Seneca County, and was one of the 12 children of John and Martha (Steinmetz) Faltr.  She was married in St. Stephen Jan. 16, 1883 to Mathias Wurm, who is now deceased.  Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Mary Schneider and Mrs. Lena Schneider, both of Bellevue, Mrs. Rose Studer, Mrs. Bertha Bechtol, Mrs. Otto Faeth, and Edmund Wurm, all of New Washington; Mrs. Anna Ball, St. Stephen; Alphons Wurm, Bloomville; Joseph Wurm, Attica; one brother, Cornelius Falter, Attica; and 53 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.  Two daughters, Mrs. Theresa Shell and Mes. Agnes Dick, both of New Washington, are deceased.  Mrs. Wurm was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church, New Washington and the Altar Rosary Society at St. Stephen.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bernard's church, New Washington, and will be conducted by the Rev. Nicholas Traunero.  Burial will be made in the St. Stephen cemetery.  Friends may call at the Lanius funeral home in New Washington."

3 - Anna Elnora Wurm was born 22 June 1887 at St. Stephen, Seneca County, Ohio and died 22 June 1950 at Tiffin, Ohio.  She married Charles Louis Ball 22 July 1922 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Seneca County, Ohio.  He was born 26 April 1879 at Reed, Seneca County, Ohio to Louisa nd Safronia (Ball) Ball and died 16 Feb 1959 in Seneca County, Ohio.  Charles had been previously married to Flora Falter.  He and Anna are buried in St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery in Seneca County, Ohio.  They did not have any children.

"Mrs. Anna (Wurm) Ball, 63, of St. Stephen, wife of Charles Ball, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 1950, in Mercy Hospital following a one year illness.

A lifelong resident of St. Stephens, she was born Jan. 22, 1887 to Mathias and Martha (Falter) Wurm and was married in St. Stephen, July 22, 1926 to Charles Ball, who survives with two step-children, Mrs. William Maudsley, of Bloomville, and Raymond Ball, of Toledo.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Otto Faeth, Mrs. Frank Studer, and Aloius Bechtel, all of New Washington, Mrs. Louis Schneider, Bellevue and Mrs. Charles Schneider, Marywood, and three brothers, Alphonse Wurm of Bloomville, Joseph Wurm of Attica, and Edmund Wurm of New Washington.  She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Mrs. Ball was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and was an active member of the Altar Rosary Society of the church. 

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen Catholic Church.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  The body will be taken from the Foos funeral home in Bellevue to the family residence in St. Stephen where friends may call this evening."
