Isidor & Anna Celia (Steinmetz) Wurm

Isidor Wurm, son of John and Christina (Haug) Wurm, was born 23 March 1856 at St. Stephen, Seneca County, Ohio and died 11 June 1934 in Venice Township, Seneca County, Ohio.  He married Anna Celia "Cecilia" Steinmetz 12 May 1885 in St. Stephen Catholic Church, Seneca County, Ohio.  She was born 4 Jan 1863 in Seneca County, Ohio to Michael Cornelius and Mary Eva (Falter) Steinmetz and died 15 April 1958.  Isidor was employed as a carpenter and built the brick rectory for St. Stephen Catholic Church.

"AGED ST. STEPHENS CARPENTER DEAD - Isadore Wurm, 72, lifelong resident of St. Stephens, died in his home in that place at 4 p.m. Monday.  He had been ill for the past month and bedfast for about two weeks.

The deceased was a carpenter by trade.  He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Cecelia Steinmetz, and by the following sons and daughters: Linus and Mrs. Frank Niedermier, both of New Washington; Stella, of Fort Recovery; Richard, Fostoria; and Victor, Tiffin.

Funeral services are to be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the St. Stephens church."

"Mrs. Cecelia Ann Wurm, who resided in St. Francis's Home in Tiffin for ten years, died in Mercy Hospital at Tiffin Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. with a fractured hip.  She resided in New Washington six years and in St. Stephens prior to the time she resided in the home.

She was 95 years old and ill for four days preceding her death.  Botn January 4, 1863 in St. Stephens, she was the daughter of Michael and Mary Falter Steinmetz.  She married Isidor Wurm May 12, 1885 in St. Stephens and he preceded her in death June 11, 1934.

Surviving are two children, Mrs. Frank Niedermier of New Washington, Richard Wurm of Clyde, a sister, Mrs. Mary Freeland of Lafayette, Ind., 21 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.  Three sons and two daughters preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. Bernards Church of New Washington and of the Christian Mothers Society.

Calling hours will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Secor Funeral Home with funeral services being held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Bernards Church, New Washington.  The Rev. Fr. Nicholas Taunero will officiate, with burial being made in St. Stephens."

Isidor and Cecilia (Steinmetz) Wurm had seven children:

1 - Julius Florian Wurm (1886-1929)
2 - Linus Urban Wurm (1888-1957)
3 - Stella Mary Wurm was born in February, 1893 and died 31 Aug 1937 at Lima, Ohio.  Stella is buried in St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery in Seneca County, Ohio.  She never married.
4 - Richard Alphonse Wurm (1895-1976)
5 - Gertrude Ann Wurm (1900-1972)
6 - Alice Marie Wurm was born 18 Oct. 1902 and died 15 Oct. 1904.  She is buried in St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery in Seneca County, Ohio.
7 - Victor Alfred Wurm (1906-1957)

"Miss Stella Wurm, 44, of Ft. Recovery, died in Memorial Hospital Tuesday.  She was admitted August 23 as a medical patient.

Funeral services will be held at St. Stevens, O, at 9 a.m. Friday.  Hoffmann Funeral Home of Tiffin, O is in charge of the arrangement.s"
