Henry & Mary (Wurm) Hahn

Maria "Mary" Wurm, daughter of John Christian and Hellena (Becker) Wurm, was born 8 Sept. 1836 in Seneca County, Ohio and died after 1880.  Mary was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tiffin, Ohio 3 Nov 1836.  She married Henry Hahn 13 Feb 1854 in Seneca County, Ohio.  Henry was born in Oct. 1823 in Germany and died 22 Dec 1900 at the Seneca County Infirmary.  He is buried in Farewell Retreat Cemetery at Republic, Ohio.  Sometime in the late 1870's, Henry and Mary gave up their children, who were split up and raised by various families in the Republic, Ohio area.

 "Henry Hahn, aged 76 years died at the County Infirmary Thursday, and his remains were buried at Republic Saturday.  He had been at the Infirmary ten years."


Henry and Mary (Wurm) Hahn had nine children:

1 - Joseph David Hawn (1854-1915)
John Hahn
2 - Oliver Aloysius Hahn was born 9 June 1857 and died 11 Dec 1916 in Scipio Township, Seneca County, Ohio.  He never married.  Oliver is buried in Farewell Retreat Cemetery at Republic, Ohio.
3 - Roofine Hahn (1860-1935)
4 - Ella Mary Anna Hahn was born 20 April 1862.  Family stories state that Henry and Mary had a daughter who died of appendicitis when 14 years old.  It is believed that Ella is this daughter.
5 - Katherine Theresia "Katie" Hahn (1864-1939)
6 - Martin Bernard Hahn (1867-1929)
7 - John Hahn was born 30 April 1870 in Bloom Township, Seneca County, Ohio and died 30 April 1944 in Eden Township, Seneca County, Ohio.  John never married.  He is buried in Farewell Retreat Cemetery at Republic, Ohio.
8 - Rose Myrtle Hahn (1873-1960)
9 - Anna Laura Hahn (1877-1959)

"FORMER RESIDENT OF REPUBLIC DIES - John Hahn, 74, lifelong resident of the vicinity of Republic, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, April 30, 1944 in the Seneca County home.  He had been a resident there for about two years.

Mr. Hahn was born in Seneca County April 30, 1870.  He was never married and his only immediate surviving relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Rose Swick, Republic and Mrs. Anna Yoder, Fostoria.

The body has been taken to the Pancoast Funeral Home in Republic and services will be conducted there at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. H.H. Maurer.  Burial will be in Farewell Retreat Cemetery at Republic."
