Martin Bernard & Cecelia B. (Crippen) Hahn

Martin Bernard Hahn, son of Henry and Mary (Wurm) Hahn, was born 28 April 1867 in Venice Township, Seneca County, Ohio and died 17 April, 1929 at Detroit, Michigan.  In 1880 Martin was employed as a farm laborer living with the Henry VanFleet family in Scipio Township, Seneca County, Ohio.  He married Cecelia B. "Ceba" Crippen 15 Sept 1887 in Seneca County, Ohio.  She was bornin May, 1869 to Daniel Albert and Marian A. (Cramer) Crippen and died 10 March, 1951 at Detroit, Michigan.

"Martin Hahn was born at Venice Township, April 1867 and died Wednesday April 17, 1929 at Detroit, Michigan, aged 62 years.

He was married September 15, 1887 to Clo Crippen at Republic, O.

This union was blessed with five children: Jacob D. Hahn, Henry M., Chas. B., Marion A. Gorman, and Corine Hahn.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hahn, preceded him in death.  He leaves to mourn, his wife, his children as stated above, one brother, John, sisters Mrs. Tom Neikirk, Mrs. Harvey Yoder of Fostoria, Mrs. Rose Swick of Republic, also three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Evangelical church conducted by Rev. August H. Kehr.  Burial in Farewell Retreat Cemetery."

"Mrs. Ceba Hahn, widow of Martin Hahn and a native of Republic, died in her home in Detroit at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 1951, following a heart attack.

Surviving are two sons, Henry Hahn and Charles Hahn, and two daughters, Mrs. William Gorman and Mrs. Harry Griffith, all of Detroit, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Frankfather, Fostoria.  She had resided in Republic until her marriage in 1912 after which she made her home in Detroit.

The body will be brought to the Pancoast funeral home in Republic and funeral services will be held there at 2 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in Farewell Retreat Cemetery in Republic."

Martin B. and Cecelia B. (Crippen) Hahn had five children:

1 - Jacob Daniel Hahn was born 31 July 1889 in Scipio Township, Seneca County, Ohio and died 23 Oct. 1937 at Perk, Saginaw County, Michigan.  He married Julianna Helen Brescoll 3 Sept 1921 at Detroit, Michigan.  She was born 13 Dec 1889 in Monclova Township, Lucas County, Ohio to Peter and Barbara (Sulewska) Brescoll and died 15 Feb 1974 at Grosse Point, Wayne County, Michigan.  Jacob and Julianna later divorced and Jacob married a second time, although his wife's name is unknown.  Jacob had one child by his second wife, a son born about 1935.  Further information unknown.
2 - Henry Martin Hahn was born 14 Sept 1897.  He married Alma L. Ohst 25 April 1925 at Detroit, Michigan.  She was born about 1896 to Herman and Ida (Zerbel) Osht.  Henry and Alma divorced before 1930.  It is unknown whether or not they had any children.  In the 1930 census Henry is living in Detroit with his mother and the family of his brother Charles.  Henry is buried in an unmarked grave in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan, but the date of his death is unknown.

3 - Charles Benjamin Hahn (1899-?)
4 - Marion Adelia Hahn was born 13 July 1901 at Republic, Ohio.  She married William Mack Gorman 5 Sept 1923 at Detroit, Michigan.  He was born 24 May 1894 in Tennessee to John and Belle (McWane) Gorman and died 19 May 1959.  William and Marion are buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Detroit, Michigan.  Marion's grave is unmarked.
5 - Corrine L. Hahn was born 26 April 1903 at Republic, Ohio and died 1 Feb 1984 in Alpena County, Michigan.  She married Chester H. Whittenburg 21 May 1922 at Detroit, Michigan.  Chester was born about 1895 in Missouri to William and Anna (Hamilton) Whittenburg.  He and Corrine divorced before 1930.  Corrine's second marriage was after 1937 to Harry Griffith.  Corrine is buried in an unmarked grave in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Detroit, Michigan.  She is buried next to a William R. Griffith who is believed to be her second husband.
