Otto Franklin & Bessie Violabelle (Robinson) Stout

Otto Franklin Stout, son of Henry Washington and Ellen Christina (Wurm) Stout, was born April 26, 1879 in Seneca County, Ohio and died in February 1956 at Alvordton, Williams County, Ohio.  He was baptized at St. Stephen Catholic Church in St. Stephen, Seneca County, Ohio on May 4, 1879.  Otto married Bessie Violabelle Robinson July 14, 1903 at Nappanee, Indiana.  She was born July 14, 1884 to Jacob J. and Sarah Elizabeth (Mellott) Robinson and died in 1947.

"Otto F. Stout, 76, died at the home of his son, Virgil, at Alvorton, Ohio, Saturday of a heart attack.  He was born in Seneca County, O., April 26, 1878 and was married in 1905 to Bessie Robinson, who preceded him in death.  He was a retired furniture finisher.

Survivors include 3 other children, Claude J. of Orlando, FL; Mrs. Earl Kern and Lester L. of Nappanee; brothers, Charles of Elkhart and Alvin of Plymouth; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was a member of the Church of God where services Tuesday morning were led by Rev. W.L. Woods of Oak Grove Church of God, assisted by Rev. Robert Fields.  Burial was in Milford Cemetery."

"Mrs. Bessie V. Stout, wife of Otto F. Stout, died at the Elkhart General Hospital last Sunday AM following an illness of several years.

Mrs. Stout was born July 14, 1884, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Robinson, at Locke.  She was united in marriage to Otto F. Stout in Nappanee on July 14, 1903 and they had made their home at 356 W. Lincoln St. for many years.

Besides the husband the following children survive:  Claude J. Stout of Nappanee; Virgil T. Stout, Montpelier, Ohio; Lester Stout of Nappanee; Mrs. Earl Kern of Nappanee and Mrs. Vernard Lambert of Goshen.  Harvey C. Stout passed away in infancy, Leo D. Stout died in 1906, and Ora F. Stout was killed in action at Aachan, Germany on Nov. 22, 1944. The following brothers and sisters also survive:  Oliver Robinson, Gravelton; Walter Robinson, Goshen; Clarence and Quince Robinson, both of Grant, Michigan; Oscar, Grand Rapids, Mich; and Willard of Leesburg; Mrs. Eva Dell Robinson, Millersburg; Mrs. Helen Fife, Belchertown, Mass.; Mrs. Maude Hawkins, Benton; Mrs. Pauline Cox, Leesburg, and nine grandchildren.

The deceased was very active in church work and only missed services when physically unable to attend.  Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Church of God, Rev. L.E. Foudy, pastor, officiating and assisted by Rev. Paul Wagley.  Burial was in the Milford Cemetery under the direction of Wright & Son."
