Herman Edward and Elizabeth Mary Dorothy (Wurm) Ranker

Elizabeth Mary Dorothy Wurm, daughter of Philip John and Elizabeth (Missig) Wurm, was born 7 Aug 1881 at Sandusky, Ohio and died 12 Sept. 1966.  She married Herman Edward Ranker.  Herman was born 16 Jan 1882 to Joseph L. and Rose Kunigunda (Kirchner) Ranker and died 22 Dec. 1953.

"Mrs. Elizabeth Ranker, 85, of West 8th Street, was pronounced dead in Elyria Memorial Hospital at 8:30 p.m. after having a heart attach.  She was the widow of Herman E. Ranker who died 15 years ago.

Mrs. Ranker was born in Sandusky Aug 9, 1881, and lived in Elyria 38 years.  She was a member of St. Mary Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, the Third Order of St. Francis, Mission Circle and one of the Air Force Mothers.

Surviving are two sons, Howard, Cleveland Heights, and John, Elyria; four daughters, Mrs. A.P. (Dorothy) MacDermott, Cleveland Heights; Mrs. Charles (Kay) Imber, Columbus; Mrs. W.J. (Barbara) Henry and Mrs. William (Genevieve) Barnes, both of Elyria; two brothers, Carl Wurnelle, Sandusky, and Arnold Wurnelle, Kansas City, Kans.; and a sister, Mrs. Theresa Ennis, Elyria.

Requiem high mass will be sung at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Church and burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited in the Goldcamp Funeral Home at 8 p.m. today.  Friends will be received after 7 p.m. this evening and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow."


Herman Edward and Elizabeth Mary Dorothy (Wurm) Ranker had six children:
1 - Dorothy Elizabeth Mary Ranker (1904-1994)
2 - Howard Edward Ranker (1908-2001)
3 - Genevieve Hildegarde Ranker (1912-2007)
4 - John Albert Ranker was born 12 Nov 1915 at Fremont, Ohio and died 4 Aug 1990 at Elyria, Ohio.  He married Lois E. Hughes 26 Nov 1966.  Lois was born 21 March 1918 and died 3 March 2005.  John was a veteran of World War II and was later employed by Electro Alloys.  He is buried in Brookdale Cemetery at Elyria, Ohio.
